I started working in the vineyard with my parents at the age of 15.At that time, hair care products made by the chemical (petroleum) industry were just starting to appear. My father, like everyone else, used them.

In 1972, I had some health problems (respiratory allergies, etc.). I quickly realized that all these issues had a single cause: pesticides—and in particular one used to treat the most common vine disease in our region: downy mildew.

After more than 30 years of organic farming, research, struggles, successes, and failures, I remain convinced that our approach to farming reflects the future of agriculture. It demands respect for the land and for people.
